Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now

Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons evrywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really dont know clouds at all

Moons and junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As eve'ry fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show
You leave em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really dont know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well somethings' lost, but something's gained
In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's lifes illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Sunday

To every person a weekend has come to signify a different thing. For me, it is the construction of the following week, the reevaluation of the past week, a break in between duties, responsibilities, tasks and worries; it means a space in time where everything tones down and everyone can swim into their own thing, or, if they feel like it, come together to share and unwind among one another. What's Sunday for you?

5 Things About Me

I took my time to respond to an invitation to write 'five things about me' by Chris.
Here it goes now (taking a break from studying):

  1. I love have developed this love for easy TV. The new series of Peep show started again. The second episode is tonight.
  2. I hate when people I don't know stress me. I also hate when people I know have that same effect on me.
  3. I am ambivalent in almost every decision I have to make, but for very few exceptions.
  4. I never know what to wear.
  5. I am an Internet junky. I mean it. Currently experiencing Internet problems. Not a good period.

Now it's my turn to invite people. So, if your weblog follows, c'mon, share, share:

Computer Holding Power

"The computer's holding power is a phenomenon frequently referred to in terms associated with drug addiction. It is striking that the word "user" is associated mainly with computers and drugs. The trouble with that analogy, however, is that it puts the focus on what is external (the drug). I prefer the metaphor of seduction because it emphasizes the relationship between person and machine. Love, passion, infatuation, what we feel for another person teaches us about ourselves. If we explore these feelings, we can learn what we are drawn to, what we are missing, and what we need. The analysis of computational seductions offers similar promise if we drop the cliche of addiction and return to the forces, or more precisely, the diversity of forces that keep us engrossed in computational media." Sherry Turkle, Life on the Screen, 1995: 30.
